Holidays in Naturno
NaturnoThe beautiful and popular holiday resort Naturno (Naturns) lies at 554 meters above sea level and is situated at the bottom of the Val Venosta valley, surrounded by apple-fields and vineyards. It has many nice hotels and is a good starting point for walks in the surroundings. The village is not far from Merano. The Medieval castles Castel Tarànto and Castel Naturno are enthroned in the east above the village. The pretty little church St. Proculus is worthwhile a visit, it is very famous because it has the oldest breathtaking frescos of the German speaking countries. The overwhelming wall paintings and frescos show the influence of the Irish illumination. The St. Procolus curch also has a subterranean Proculus museum about the history of the area. The Nature Park House Gruppo del Tessa has an exhibition on the flora and fauna of the nature park Gruppo del Tessa. Very popular amongst young and older people is the Val Venosta valley cycle track along the river Adige. You can cycle up and down the valley or take the Val Venosta valley train which also offers a bike rental and allows bicycles on board. Mountaineers can take the modern Cablecar Unterstell up to the sunny "Sonnenberg". The Adventure train station offers visitors a 800m long model railway and the possibility of driving a hand car. Naturno also offers many other sporting activities, it has a lovely adventure in- and outdoor swimming pool. |
