Holidays in Parcines

Parcines

The little holiday village Parcines (Partschins) lies at 637 meters above sea level and is positioned on a sunny slightly elevated position under the mountain group Gruppo di Tessa. It is close to Naturno and not far from Merano.
Above the village the Parcines waterfall, the largest waterfall in South Tyrol precipitates into the valley from 97 m of height. This natural phenomenon is definetely worth seeing.
The parish churches of St. Peter and St. Paul with their precious wood figures of Jörg Lederer and the park of castle Spauregg are worth a visit.

The village square is home to the Peter Mitterhofer Typewriter Museum commemorating Peter Mitterhofer, the man who invented the typewriter in 1864. Of the over 2000 exhibits, 400 are exhibited in the museum and around 1600 in a special exposition room. The museum gives an insight into the history of the typwriter, starting from its invention in 1864 to its substitution through the computer starting around the 80ies.

Close to Rablà (Rabland) a cable car takes tourists up to the mountain village Rio Lagundo (1.320 m), a starting point for lovely excursions, walks and hikes, for example to Monte San Vigilio. On the other side of the valley starts the new Cablecar Texel that brings mountaineers up to the walking paths in the mountain group Gruppo di Tessa.
