The sunny holiday resort Siusi allo Sciliar (Seis am Schlern) lies at 1.004 m above sea level at the foot of the mighty Santner peak. Surrounded by sloping pastures and woods this traditional tourist resort is the starting point of the aerial cableway leading to the Alpe di Siusi which is blocked for the normal traffic.

In the old village centre a few historic villas have been preserved that were built by rich people at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century in the village that was already then a popular summer health resort.
Above the village on a pasture slope, stands the picturesque little church St. Valentin with nice frescos of the 14th century. Already the wonderful view is worthwhile a walk to the church.
A bit further away from the village the ruin Hauenstein is enthroned below the Santner peak. A marble panel commemorates the famous minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein who had his summer residence in this castle. The riding shows that take place every early summer in the villages of the Sciliar area also celebrate the well known poet.
Worth while seeing are also the chapels of the Kalvarien mountain, a unique group of religious buildings.
Embedded in this magnificent landscape at the foot of one of the most famous mountains in South Tyrol you can also find a nice golf course that you can easily reach on foot from Siusi.
